Cathy Lee,
Your presentation workshop with the history of shadow puppets was a wonderful
part of our exploration of South Asian culture and history. Thank you for bringing
your talents and humor to the Peel Region; it meant a lot to our program.

Hi Cathy Lee!
Thank you again for a wonderful
puppet presentation today at Laura’s birthday party! The kids all
enjoyed it, even the littlest ones (who were squirmy at times but
nonetheless enjoyed it thoroughly!) All the parents afterwards were
commenting on your positive energy, great performance, and interaction
with the kids – and we are all impressed with your ability to remember
everyone’s name so quickly! Laura was given a puppet theatre for her
birthday (albeit a much smaller one than yours!) and she is playing with
it now, re-enacting the princess and the prince story that she heard
from you, with great enthusiasm.
Thank you again for making her
birthday party “one to remember”!
Have a wonderful summer,

By the look on the faces of the
children and their parents Arms Length Puppets were a huge success.
They were very professional and easy to work with and were a hit with
the audience!
Thanks again Cathy Lee!

“This project entailed Cathy Lee Keogh Hammond working with the
members of the Mississauga Festival Youth Choir in an afternoon workshop
held in October, during which she engaged the children and teens in
creating shadow puppet designs for the December concert. The MFYC
members enjoyed working with Cathy Lee very much, and developed a true
affection for her in a short time.
Cathy Lee continued to work with the MFYC on this project
throughout the fall, attending several rehearsals as part of the
choreography process of interpretive puppetry for the lyrics of the
songs. Cathy’s work during the December concert was most professional,
and I feel that the puppetry added a unique and enjoyable dimension to
the performance.
Cathy Lee is a professional in every aspect and her enthusiasm is
infectious. I am confident that she will bring these qualities to any
work that she undertakes.”

Artistic Director, Mississauga Festival Youth Choir
“Cathy Lee puts on a show with such enthusiasm, such creativity,
such attention to detail, that the audience can't help itself from being
wowed by the presentation. No matter the venue, she can adapt, squeeze
or stretch the limits. A total joy to behold.”

“Dear Cathy Lee, On behalf of the 266th Brownies, I would like to
thank you very much for the puppeteer workshop you conducted. Your
knowledge of puppets and your boundless enthusiasm left the Brownies
spellbound as they listened to your presentation.
Thank you for making the evening educational in a creative and fun
way. The girls delighted in making their puppets, particularly with
your positive encouragement and guidance. Thank you for opening one more
door to their imaginations.”

“…Ms. Hammond visited my grade nine dramatic arts class as guest
artist during our puppetry unit. She brought with her an impressive
array of hand puppets, rod puppets, string puppets and shadow puppets,
representing a variety of cultures. To the further delight of the
students, she also brought scenery and diminutive props that she has
used in her puppets shows. Ms. Hammond provided an entertaining history
of puppetry, as she demonstrated manipulation techniques appropriate to
the various puppets. Her skill in manipulation is superb.
Ms. Hammond matched her prowess in manipulation with an extensive
repertoire of voices, as she created characters and brought her puppets
to life.
Ms. Hammond engaged her audience with wit and humour. Her pacing
was lively and effective, and she encouraged our students to ask
questions. Her workshop was highly informative and thoroughly enjoyable.
She is a consummate professional whose expertise provided enrichment and
benefited our students tremendously.
I recommend Cathy Lee Keogh Hammond to any school or community
group seeking a knowledgeable, skilful puppeteer with an effervescent
personality!”

“…As Cathy Lee’s performance is very interactive, the children
(approx. 250) were completely involved and thoroughly enjoyed
themselves. I have to say this was one of our best so far and I would
thoroughly recommend her for any event of this nature. I should also
mention that many of the parents enjoyed it just as much as the
children, and were singing her praises at the end of the performance.”

“…The show was entertaining
for both parents and children. The set and puppets were very attractive
and the story was well performed. I would highly recommend Arm’s Length
Puppets to stage a show for children’s events.”

“Arm's Length Puppets was a
great success for many of our stores. Both children and adults were
thoroughly entertained. The added increase in traffic was a bonus!”

“I have never seen so many
children spellbound and literally awestruck by the puppetry show that
Cathy Lee presented to our group of kids. Truly an amazing talent, Cathy
Lee shared her joy and skill with children that are rarely exposed to
this art form in this day and age of computers and video games. The
laughter was so loud the adults wanted to leave the seminar and join in
the fun!”

“...Cathy Lee’s puppet show
is the heart of our children’s tent. Cathy Lee has created a puppet show
the children and adults both enjoy, it has the children laughing at the
story and amazed by the puppets and the set. Cathy always stays after
her show to let the children have an up close look at the set and the
puppets, and they always have lots of questions that Cathy Lee is happy
to answer. The children really learn to appreciate puppetry through
watching one of Cathy Lee’s shows”.

“My daughters attended a
puppet course taught by Cathy Lee Keogh Hammond of Arm's Length Puppets
in July, 2004. Cathy's enthusiasm and creativity was contagious...the
kids were thrilled to make their own puppets and perform in a play at
the end of the week. My kids were so excited about puppetry that Cathy
Lee performed at their birthday party, which included a puppet play and
hands-on puppet workshop where the kids made their own hand puppets. I
would highly recommend Cathy Lee Keogh Hammond and Arm's Length Puppets
for some fun and creative puppetry!”
